When talking about the performance of modern tyres, the discussion often focuses on compounds.
Above all, the advent of silica clearly improved adherence under all operating conditions, a fundamental factor for winter tyres as well as summer tyres. So, all you have to do is increase the silica, right?  Absolutely not, since that would reduce the other types of performance. It’s here that Marangoni research has achieved an important result thanks to the use of FOM-IC (Filler Optimised Mixture - Improved Compound): an exclusive technology that optimises the interaction between polymer and filler (silica and carbon black) inside the compound.

The result is a significant increase in adherence on all road surfaces, therefore creating a unique feeling of driving control and safety. Proof that, as always, the importance of materials is surpassed by the ability to use them in the best possible manner: in other words, technology.

With PST (Performance, Safety, Technology), Marangoni has created the most advanced tyre development platform. With PST, performance is generated by the structure.

With a high load coefficient, this platform transmits tremendous power to the ground during acceleration, ensuring maximum uniform distribution of forces while optimising the contact area. There’s also extensive use of special materials, like the pre-treated fibres for the casing cord and the Kevlar in the bead connection zone. Everything is enhanced by the PST contour that controls deformations in the tyre’s critical areas and guarantees exceptional progressive response to provide superior driving smoothness and safety.

Not just Italy…

Last year the championship, run entirely on Marangoni tyres, saw the cars on the track fitted with the standard Zeta Linea tyres.
For 2006 the RX-8s are all fitted with 18" Zeta Linea Racing tyres. A step forward in the production of racing tyres, an important indicator of the technological developments made by Marangoni.

If there’s a sports sector where standard tyre performance can be tested under crucial conditions, it’s the touring car championship. That’s why Marangoni works with the Franz Engstler team – one of Europe’s main tuners – putting its tyres to the test on the German touring car championship’s most demanding tracks.

Obviously, there’s no comparison. The track puts a tyre under much more stress than any normal road could ever do. That’s why Marangoni uses it, interpreting sport as the best means for testing the same tyres that offer you guaranteed performance and safety for everyday use.
